Led Zeppelin continues to tease their new box set with an advanced release. The group has posted an official video to a rough mix of "Whole Lotta Love," which is one of the bonus tracks on the upcoming set.
Jimmy Page says with the first notes listeners might think they're hearing the album cut, but then "all of a sudden they'll go, 'No, it's not.'"
While the takes are similiar, the rough mix doesn't include any of the background vocals or guitar solo, and some of the lyrics are different. Plant says the track allows fans to "see how songs grow." He explains that this version shows they "haven't quite reached the point yet, and that it's very, very close."
The "Whole Lotta Love (Rough Mix)" is from the bonus disc accompanying the deluxe reissue of Led Zeppelin II. Led Zeppelin is releasing remastered editions of their first three albums, which will also be packaged together in a box set, on June 3rd.
