Lenny Kravitz will play Marvin Gaye in an upcoming biopic on the late R&B legend. The film will begin filming in 2013. Julien Temple, who has directed numerous music documentaries and videos, will direct the movie.
The biopic will apparently focus on Gaye's life in the early 1980s when the singer left Motown, moved to Europe, and was battling addiction. Gaye's father killed him in 1984.
Music rights have been secured for the film.
